Courses

Courses are taught by a qualified PMC instructor with 7 years silversmithing experience. Because we only teach in small groups (minimum 2 maximum 6) there is ample opportunity for individual attention. Students are encouraged to ask questions and the atmosphere is informal and relaxed.

Courses are structured as either a full day run on a Saturday or Sunday from 10am until 6pm or spread over two days to fit into the school day from 10am until 2.00pm. This is usually two consecutive days, either Monday & Tuesday or Thursday & Friday.

We currently run the following courses:

Introduction to Precious Metal Clay

Leaves and Flowers

Dichroic Glass Cabochon & Stone set pieces

PMC Rings

Fine silver beads in Precious Metal Clay

Make your own Christmas presents with PMC

Students need to have attended a PMC introduction course either with me or at another training centre as the basics will not be covered on the themed courses. All courses have been structured to ensure new techniques are taught on each one building on the foundation of basics taught on the introduction course. A good working knowledge of the material along with the ability to create bails, perform dry construction and syringe work will be required for all themed courses. With the exception of "PMC Rings" and "Making your own Christmas presents with PMC" which are suitable for all abilities. Once you have attended a course with Learnsilverclay you will qualify for 5% discount on materials and tools from the webshop so don't rush out and buy everything beforehand you could save yourself some money!!

All one day courses are taught over the same timescales and cost £80 per person with the exception of the Advanced Techniques Course. The two day BronzClayTM Introduction Course runs from 10am until 6pm on day one and 10am until 4pm on day two and costs £175 which includes 200g of BronzClayTM.

All materials are included and your completed works of art are yours to take home.

The Advanced Techniques course costs £100 and includes 16g PMC3 lump clay, a syringe and a packet of PMC+ sheet.

BEGINNER TO EXPERT WEEKEND BREAKS

We also offer, by arrangement, two day "Beginner to Expert" weekend courses including accommodation in a newly build self contained cottage owned by our neighbours. These weekend breaks can be booked for a minimum of 4 participants and a maximum of 6. This may be the alternative "Hen Weekend" (without the strippers) or just a lovely way to get away and relax with a group of friends or family and have something fantastic to take home at the end of it. For details of the accommodation see www.littleghyllcottage.co.uk. For more details of the course content and prices etc., email info@learnsilverclay.co.uk or phone Paula on 01825 722428.
